What you are buying, how it gets delivered, and how it ends. Written plainly rather than as boilerplate.
What is sold
Austin Devs LLC sells professional services: technology strategy, engineering leadership, software development, and the related advisory work described on the services page. Nothing here is a physical product, and there is no shipping involved. Deliverables are things like working software, source code in your own repositories, architecture and diligence documents, and time in meetings.
How an engagement starts
Every engagement starts with a conversation, not an order form. Scope, rate, and cadence are agreed in writing first, whether that is a statement of work, a consulting agreement, or an email that both sides confirm. Work does not begin before that exists.
Shapes of engagement
- Fractional CTO. A recurring monthly commitment for a set number of days or hours, billed monthly.
- Project work. A defined deliverable with a fixed fee or an estimated range, billed at agreed milestones.
- Advisory and diligence. Short bounded engagements, usually billed on completion.
Delivery
Code is delivered into your repositories and your infrastructure as it is written, not held back until the end. Documents are delivered in editable formats you keep. Timelines are agreed per engagement and kept current in writing when they change, which on real projects they sometimes do.
Billing
Invoices are issued electronically and are due on the terms stated on the invoice, ordinarily net 15. Recurring engagements are billed monthly in advance unless agreed otherwise. Applicable taxes are added where required.
Changes, pausing, and cancellation
Recurring engagements can be ended by either side with 30 days written notice. Project work can be stopped at any point; you are billed for work completed to that date and you keep everything produced up to it. Scope changes are agreed in writing before the work that depends on them starts.
Refunds
Fees for work already performed are not refundable, because the work has been delivered and is yours to keep. Amounts paid in advance for work not yet performed are refunded in full when an engagement ends. If something delivered is not what was agreed, the first remedy is to put it right; raise it and it gets addressed.
Ownership
On payment, work product created specifically for you is yours. Pre-existing tools, libraries, and general know-how brought to the engagement remain owned by Austin Devs LLC, licensed to you for use in what was delivered. Anything more specific is set out in the engagement agreement, which takes precedence over this page.
